Apple dominated the personal computer industry from 1977 to 1983, when it subsequently gave way to IBM PC compatibles. The Apple II microcomputer (1977) was a hit. The Macintosh (generally called the "Mac"), introduced in 1984, displayed a friendly graphical interface and for the first time introduced the mouse in a personal computer. Another notable first was the iPod, introduced in August 2006, which has become the most popular digital music player in the world. The company is headquartered in Cupertino, California. The product range includes Apple Macintosh, Mac OS X, iPod, QuickTime, iLife, iWork, Final Cut Studio, Aperture, Logic Pro, Cinema Display, and AirPort. It employs approximately 14,800 employees. Pros And Cons

The Apple PowerBook G4 Mac Notebook features a 17" screen, DVD/CD burner, and is wireless enabled. It enables to do anything from video editing to chatting on the net. Has a 512 MB of fast DDR2 SDRAM, that can be upgradeable to 2 GB. It also has an option of 100 GB hard drive. The laptop runs MacOS X 10.2 Jaguar, and anything design-related, or for people who work in UNIX, this offers a more user-friendly interface. However, a notebook memory of at least 1 GB of RAM would have made it more attractive. The display is gorgeous and as desktop replacement is worth the buy. The video/audio system is great, but the battery life is not as expected for such a power horse. The accompanying software is also highly commendable, but the tech support requires some improvement. There is some difficulty in setting up the airport extreme with current wireless network. However, once set, the WiFi runs smooth and fast. This Mac is reliable, stable, durable, innovative, and comes with compatible accessories. The built-in Bluetooth, Ambient Light Sensor, and SuperDrive DVD-R work very nicely. There is some problem with the hinges, if the keyboard is angled more than 20 degrees, then the screen comes down and closes. Sometimes, due to this the keys scratch the screen. Overall, a great laptop for audio/video designing. The Apple iBook G3 Mac Notebook is small and light, easy to use, has a long battery life, and the design is stylish. It comes with proprietary hardware which can cause replacements a nightmare, and has limited software. The upgrades increase price is considerable, is reliable, stable, and fast. The portability is a great plus point, the speakers are not so clear, and the case materials is more vulnerable. As with all Mac computers, viruses and hackers simply just can get in, making Internet surfing a pleasant experience. This is not as powerful as the Power Book and so games cannot be played with higher settings. The snow white design looks amazing and stands out in a café or any Internet hot spot. The Apple MacBook Pro is the first Apple laptop to be powered by an Intel dual-core processor. Integrated webcam and a slick interface for accessing your favourite pictures, movies, and music. The screen is 15.4-inch widescreen with a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels. The ambient light-sensing technology, illuminates the keys and dims the screen in a darkened environment. The scrolling TrackPad allows clickless document scrolling. There are FireWire, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB 2.0 ports on either side of the notebook computer. The smaller and faster Express Card slot has replaced the traditional PC Card slot. The 2.16 GHz Inter Core-Duo alongwith 2 GB of RAM make multitasking a breeze. The battery life is about 2.5 hours with WiFi off and DVD on. With everyday use, it should last about 3.5 hours. The ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics and with 256 MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory, gaming is a pleasure on this Apple laptop notebook. Some programs are non-optimized for this machine, like the Microsoft Office cannot run natively and the Photoshop filters take a longer time than older macs. The Mac OS programs are not optimized to take advantage of Intel's processor. A unique innovation is the MacBook Pro's MagSafe power adapter, which automatically disconnects from the notebook's side if any strain is applied to the cord. Therefore, if you trip, then the cord will come out and will not bring the notebook crashing down to the floor. Apple's Sudden Motion Sensor (a 3D accelerometer) parks the hard drive if the notebook senses that it is falling. Overall, the best laptop that Apple has produced. However, Mac software needs to catch up to utilize Intel processor's full capability.
